Entering an Episode's Transcript Text

Assuming you've installed the Fusebox Transcripts plugin and configured the settings to your preferences, you will then want to enter your episode transcript text.

Step 1 — Add the Episode Transcript Text 

Manually

If you're not using a transcription service and you'd like to manually enter the episode's transcript text, you can do so by following these instructions:

  • While editing a page or post, scroll to the bottom of the page editor and click Transcript to expand the plugin.
  • Paste the episode’s transcript text, including any desired HTML formatting.
  • Click Update at the top of the page editor.

It's important to remember that Step #2 will require you to manually type the transcript text, either in plain text or in HTML format.

TXT file

Most transcription platforms will provide you with a downloadable text file that can be used to upload into the Fusebox Transcripts plugin. Here are the instructions to follow:

  • While editing a page or post, scroll to the bottom of the page editor and click Transcript to expand the plugin.
  • Click Upload text file at the top of the plugin container.
  • Find the desired transcript TXT file. and click Open.
  • Click Update at the top of the page editor.

Integration

If you receive your episode transcripts from either Rev or Temi, you can connect the plugin to either one of their accounts.

  • Connect the Fusebox Transcripts plugin to either Rev or Temi.
  • While editing a page or post, scroll to the bottom of the page editor and click Transcript to expand the plugin.
  • From the drop-down menu, select the desired episode and click Add.
  • Click Update at the top of the page editor.

Notes About Text and Formatting

Preformatted TXT files from a transcription platform will typically come preformatted and will not require any editing. If you're manually entering your transcript text, be sure to use the opening and closing HTML formatting below:

"em" to italicize text

"strong" to bold text

"u" to underline text

"p" to add two carriage returns

"br" to add one carriage return

"a" to create a link


Step 2 — Add the Plugin Shortcode

After you've completed entering your episode text using one of the methods above, you'll need to add the Fusebox Transcripts plugin shortcode to the desired location on the page.

  • From the page editor and click the plus symbol to add a new block.
  • Search for or find Shortcode from the block menu
  • Type [fusebox_transcript].
  • Click Update at the top of the page editor.
