Email Capture and the Transcript Plugin (Pro)

This support article is for Pro subscribers only. Email capture for the transcript plugin is a feature that comes with the Pro subscription only. If you are a Free subscriber, go here.

The below support doc walks you through how email capture with the transcript plugin works, and how to set it up with:

  • ConvertKit
  • MailChimp
  • ActiveCampaign

(more email service providers will be added in the future).

What Is Email Capture for the Transcript Plugin?

We know how important an email list is for podcasters, entrepreneurs, and small businesses, so we created an email capture option in the header area of your transcripts, which can be configured directly in your Transcript Plugin settings (Settings > Transcript Plugin) in WordPress! Right now, email capture is available only for ConvertKit and MailChimp, but we'll be adding more service providers coming soon!

This is what it looks like on the front end after you've set it up. See the "email" icon on the top-right:

And when your podcast listeners/website visitors click on that "email" icon, the email capture form pops up:

All right, now we know what it is, let's walk through how to set it up in both ConvertKit and MailChimp!

How to Add Email Capture to Transcript Plugin (with ConvertKit)

Below are steps you need to take to set up email capture for your transcript plugin with ConvertKit.

1. Grab Your ConvertKit API Key

  • Click on your profile in the top-right in ConvertKit and open the drop-down menu. Click on Account Settings.
  • Your Account Info tab will have an API key section, that will look like this:

  • Copy your API key and login to your WordPress dashboard.
  • Navigate to Settings > Transcript Plugin > Email Integration.
  • Select ConvertKit as your Email service provider.
  • Paste the API key in the API Key spot.

2. Create Form in ConvertKit

  • Login to your ConvertKit account, click on Landing Pages and Forms in the top-menu.
  • Click Create New to create a new form.
  • Click on Inline form. (Other form styles will work, but all result in the same Fusebox design on the front end.)
  • Choose whatever Template you like. (Again, this doesn't matter. All email capture forms will look the same.)
  • Then copy the Form ID which is in the URL of your form builder. See here:

  • Paste your Form ID in your Fusebox Transcript Plugin settings (see Settings screenshot above).
  • Finally, customize the content of the form in your Transcript Plugin settings, including Open Call to Action, Main Text Header, Main Text Body, and Button Text. Don't forget to to click Save Changes!

We've designed the email capture to align with the simplified design of the transcript itself, so we don't offer special font or color customization in the email capture pop-up. Only the text can be customized at this time. For ConvertKit, you can still control the incentive email and the redirect page (set in your form settings), as well as adding tags and subsequent automations as usual.

Okay, if you have MailChimp as your email service provider, here are the steps to add email capture to your transcript plugin!

  • Navigate to Settings > Transcript Plugin > Email Integration.
  • Select MailChimp as your Email service provider.
  • Paste the API key in the API Key spot.

2. Grab Your Audience ID and Copy/Paste Into Transcript Settings

This is the Audience name and campaign defaults section (accessed by going to Audience > Settings > Audience name and defaults):

  • Copy your Audience ID
